Whew

November 3rd, 2006 by Rachel

Mood : accomplished  Music : Some guy on MySpace who requested I add him  Book : Nothing atm, still waiting for my new Silva. :(

I accomplished a lot today, of course, there’s still so much left to do.

I did, however, finally finish selecting and touching up/resizing images to submit for a call to entries. That was tough! Selecting the images firstly, and after those were finally chosen (I was limited to 10) I had to remove borders and signature stamps. Instead of searching them out on my hard drives or DVDs, I just downloaded them from my gallery and some of the images downloaded were currupt. Eep! I thought Photoshop was dying on me. It was frightening. I jumped on Jeff’s computer and found the same problem there. Time was ticking away. Redownloaded the problem images and everything was fine. I finished my submission with four minutes to spare!

Between Jeff helping me chose and scrutinizing my images (okay, I was scrutinizing them more than him probably, but he gave some too!) and my Business Comm prof. helping me proof my application as well as writing me a tremendously kind letter of recommendation, I believe I have a strong entry. Wish me luck!

At any rate, here are screenies of my submissions. It is for a nature org. Ten were to be of just our best/favorite work, and five were thematic. For the theme, I chose “dramatic flora”. Dramatic because of the lighting, color and contrast. Did I mention how difficult it was to limit myself to only 15 total images? Very! That’s why it’s taken me so long to decide. I had an idea to begin with of which I might like to submit, but there were many more than 15! Glad that’s over. :)

The “best 10″.

And the flora themed submissions.

The flora were far easier to chose than the “10 best”, fortunately.

I’m thinking about doing some still lifes this weekend. How refreshing it will be to take non-ports for a change!

Happy weekend!
